RIM's @BlackBerry mobile payment solution gets thumbs up from Visa

The final pieces of the puzzle are falling into place just ahead of the big reveal on January 30th. The carriers are on board, there's apps galore and now Visa has approved RIM's Secure Element Manager (SEM) for its mobile payment system.
Being given the green light means that BlackBerry wont have to worry about being upstaged by the flood of Android devices coming down the pipeline with NFC payment solutions embedded in them.

It's also a major boost to the SEM platform developed by the Canadian firm which has already won the backing of many carriers in its homeland, like Bell, Rogers and TELUS, but has struggled to gain a foothold in the US. For more, check out the PR after the break.

Keep Employees Happy With Hosted PBX

Hosted PBX systems aren’t just good for companies that enjoy their cost savings, or customers who enjoy the benefits of reduced phone system downtime, or operations that benefit from all the many features available with hosted PBX that can’t be had with most in-house PBX systems. There are other benefits to hosted PBX as well, which directly affect businesses’ employees and may actually be the most important reason to switch to hosted PBX.
With hosted PBX, rerouting phone calls to employees at their homes or their cell phones is a breeze, and this simple fact eliminates the need for employees to be tied to their office phones. Instead, they can tap into their companies’ phone systems from anywhere in the world, so long as they have a phone with them. And that gives them a degree of freedom that is becoming increasingly important for employees in the 21st century.

The Importance of "Big Data"

More and more software applications are moving away from personal computers onto remote servers or into the cloud. Fifteen to twenty years ago one of the big computing considerations was "Hardware vs Software". Today, the consideration is "Bandwidth vs. Application". An internet connection that can support this generation's bandwidth-heavy applications is critical.

The advantges for organizations are that server or cloud-based applications can be accessed by multiple users on an "on-demand" basis. Additionally, centralizing resources is becoming increasingly vital, as it allows for simpler integration between multiple channels of information.

As an ISP (Internet Service Provider) BroadConnect is experienced and thoughtful in deploying exactly the right Internet connections to support all of your needs.

BroadConnect Internet Connection Types:
ADSL / Bonded ADSL
T1 / Bonded T1

With advances in video and mobile technology, Video Conferencing has become a seamless -easy to use- service, available on multiple platforms that many people already own (such as PC, Mac, iPad, etc...).
Watch our Video Conferencing Solution in action at Avaya Evolutions 2012

Different industries will find their own benefits for Video Conferencing. Rothesay Netherwood School Selects Next-Generation Avaya Network to Enhance Anytime, Anywhere, Any Device Learning

TORONTO – Avaya, a global provider of business collaboration and communications solutions and services, today announced that Rothesay Netherwood School in New Brunswick, Canada, has selected Avaya to build a next-generation, collaborative network that removes technology bottlenecks and supports the school’s innovative approach to collaborative learning.

An independent, co-educational boarding and day school for grades 6 to 12, Rothesay Netherwood draws students from around the globe. The school’s aging network infrastructure was unable to keep up with its 21st century demands, limiting online collaboration inside and outside the classroom. Some buildings lacked network connectivity, while some classrooms lacked phones. The school provides laptops for each student, but had no easy way to enable secure network access to the personal tablets, laptops and smart phones that students increasingly bring with them to campus.
